Co-sleeping

For those of you that know us well, you'll know that Dave and I do not practice co-sleeping ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Co-sleeping ). And we do not plan to feed Emily a la Alicia Silverstone style ( http://www.tmz.com/2012/03/27/alicia-silverstone-baby-feed-video/ ). Harrison slept in a bassinet in our room for about nine weeks before we moved him into a crib in his own room. For Emily I bought an Arm's Reach Mini Co-sleeper from Craigs List (I know - the name says co-sleeper) but it's basically a bassinet that sits right next to the bed. ( http://www.target.com/p/Arm-s-Reach-Mini-Co-Sleeper-Bassinet/-/A-519071 ). Well, things are going slightly different than planned. Our first night in the hospital Emily was swaddled really well and slept in the bassinet in our room...UNTIL the nurses came in to check our vitals. They woke her and that was that. She wouldn't go back to sleep in the bassinet. Dave and I took turns holding her so that the other one could sleep. Finally, I put her in my bed and we fell asleep together. The next night I was on my own. Dave went home to stay with Harrison so again, us girls snuggled up in my hospital bed and slept the night away. Fast forward to being home... Emily will not sleep in her co-sleeper! She prefers to be in our bed between us. I said to Dave at 4:30 am last night "can you believe we're co-sleepers?" And he said to me "I'd rather be a co-sleeper than a NO-sleeper." So true, so true.
